Workshops with Members of the Public
We have recruited members of the public to explore the public’s perspective on research that uses routine data and how these views will shape the development of our training content for researchers working with this type of data. Our first workshop was hosted in September 2019 and the views and opinions of our public representatives on that day has helped the development of our public involvement module.
We would now like to invite the public representatives, and other members of the public who would be interested, to attend a second workshop, where we will be presenting our public involvement and engagement training module.
We would like to take this opportunity to share with the contributors how their feedback shaped the creation of this important training module and hope that we have similar discussion and feedback to help produce the final version of our training course.
Date: Saturday 29th February 2020, 10.15am-1.30pm (refreshments from 10am)
Location: Council Chamber, Main Building, Park Place, CF10 3AT.
Travel expenses will be covered and refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Please let us know if you are interested or planning to attend by emailing CENTRIC.
What is the workshop about?
Members of the study team will run the workshop, we will recap on what our study is about and provide examples of research using routine data . We will then introduce our first version of our public perspective module and welcome any feedback from the workshop members. We are interested in all viewpoints, whether they are different or similar to each other. These discussions will help us develop the training materials further and explain to researchers why different research examples were felt to be acceptable or not from the public’s perspective (for example, using anonymous quotes from the workshop).
Please read the invitation letter you have received via email before you attend as we will be asking you to complete a consent form on arrival agreeing to participate in the workshop. This will include consent to audio-record the discussions and for photos of the day to be used in future outputs.
You won’t need to read anything prior to the day, all the information will be provided throughout the workshop.
